How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For whiteboards, safety means a stated frame and mounting hardware that keep the board fixed to the wall. None of the picks states a warranty term, so warranty is scored at zero for every pick. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIZ-PRO 48 x 24 Board | 9.7 | 32 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| Amazon Basics 35 x 23 Board | 9.6 | 30 | 21 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
How to choose the best whiteboard under 90
Size and writing surface
Size decides how much can be written before a board needs wiping. The VIZ-PRO board has an overall size of 47.2 by 23.6 inches with a writing surface of 45.7 by 22.1 inches, the largest full-data board here. The Amazon Basics board measures 35 by 23 inches, with product dimensions stated as 23 by 35 inches. The VIZ-PRO limited pick measures 40 by 30 inches, and the Amazon Basics limited pick measures 11 by 14 inches, the smallest board here. For a classroom or office wall, a larger board suits group work, while a smaller board suits a desk wall or a single user. Check the stated overall size against the wall space, since the frame adds to the writing surface size.
Frame and magnetic surface
Frame and magnetic surface affect durability and daily use. The VIZ-PRO board states an anti-scratch silver aluminum frame with ABS plastic corners, screw-fixing in corners and a detachable marker tray. The Amazon Basics board states an MDF wood frame in black, with a magnetic surface for attaching notes, memos and photos. Both full-data boards state a magnetic surface, so magnets can hold papers on the board. The Amazon Basics limited pick states an aluminum frame in its title, and the VIZ-PRO limited pick states a magnetic whiteboard in its title. A metal frame suits frequent use, while a wood frame suits a home office look.
| Board | Size | Frame | Mounting |
|---|---|---|---|
| VIZ-PRO 48 x 24 Board | 47.2 x 23.6 inches | Aluminum | Wall mount, horizontal or vertical |
| Amazon Basics 35 x 23 Board | 35 x 23 inches | MDF wood | Wall mount, vertical or horizontal |
| VIZ-PRO 40 x 30 Board | 40 x 30 inches | Not stated | Not stated |
| Amazon Basics 11 x 14 Board | 11 x 14 inches | Aluminum | Not stated |
Mounting and accessories
Mounting and accessories decide how quickly a board can be used after delivery. The VIZ-PRO board includes fixing kits, a pen tray, 1 dry eraser, 2 markers and 4 magnets, with flexible mounting either horizontally or vertically. The Amazon Basics board includes mounting hardware, 1 whiteboard marker, 2 magnets and 1 pen tray, and can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The limited picks state no accessories in the data provided, so accessories cannot be compared for them. For a school or office, a kit with markers, eraser and magnets saves a separate purchase, while a board with only a pen tray suits a user who already owns markers.
Use and placement
Use and placement shape which board fits a room. The VIZ-PRO board states use for home, school, office, small group instruction, kitchen, stores, dormitory and classroom, for counting, guided reading, learning, presentation, drawing, education and grocery lists. The Amazon Basics board states use for meetings, presentations and home chores, with a target audience of business professionals. The limited picks state no use in the data provided beyond their titles. A large board suits a classroom wall, a medium board suits an office or home wall, and a small board suits a desk area or a single study spot. See every desk organizers and whiteboards guide for more board and organizer options.
