The best blue chair mat sits between rolling chair wheels and a bare floor, so the floor stays free of scuffs while the chair still rolls. A desk on hardwood needs that layer, and a mat in blue suits a room better than plain clear plastic. This roundup compares blue mats for hard floors and low pile carpet, from printed fabric to corduroy, with more options after the picks.

How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For a chair mat, safety means a backing that stays put under a rolling chair; all 5 listings state a non-slip or anti-slip backing. None of the 5 listings states a warranty term. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blvornl Corduroy Chair Mat | 9.7 | 32 | 22 | 21 | 8 | 0 |
| Lreedy Starry Blue Chair Mat | 9.6 | 30 | 21 | 21 | 7 | 0 |
| Riveroy Blue Chair Mat | 9.6 | 29 | 21 | 20 | 7 | 0 |
| Lreedy Light Blue Chair Mat | 9.6 | 29 | 20 | 20 | 7 | 0 |
| QDJGSDDGM Blue Lightning Mat | 9.5 | 28 | 20 | 20 | 7 | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
How to choose the best blue chair mat
Start with size and floor type
Size comes first, because a mat that does not cover the rolling area leaves the floor exposed at the edges. The common size here is 36 by 48 inches, shared by the Lreedy mats and the QDJGSDDGM mat, while the Blvornl measures 35.4 by 47.3 inches and the Riveroy measures 48 by 36 inches. Floor type matters as much as size: all 5 listings suit hard floors, the Lreedy mats and the Blvornl also name low pile carpet, and the Riveroy states it is not applicable to carpets. For carpeted rooms, see the chair mat for low pile carpet lists.
Backing decides whether it stays put
A chair mat that slides defeats its purpose, so read the backing line before the pattern. The Lreedy Starry Blue and the QDJGSDDGM use a non-slip rubber backing or bottom, the Riveroy uses an absorbent resin backing, the Lreedy Light Blue lists an anti-slip surface, and the Blvornl ships 4 triangular anti-slip stickers for hard floors. The Riveroy listing adds a step: remove the film from the back before use, or the resin backing cannot grip the floor. Folded delivery can leave creases on first use; the Riveroy and QDJGSDDGM listings say an iron or laying the mat flat smooths them.
| Chair Mat | Size | Thickness | Backing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blvornl Corduroy Chair Mat | 35.4 x 47.3 | 0.2 | Triangular stickers |
| Lreedy Starry Blue Chair Mat | 36 x 48 | 0.2 | Non-slip rubber |
| Riveroy Blue Chair Mat | 48 x 36 | 0.19 | Resin |
| Lreedy Light Blue Chair Mat | 36 x 48 | 0.2 | Anti-slip |
| QDJGSDDGM Blue Lightning Mat | 36 x 48 | 0.2 | Non-slip rubber |
Figures as stated in each listing. Thickness is in inches, and sizes are in inches as listed.
Material and cleaning
Material sets how a mat cleans and how it wears. The Lreedy mats and the Riveroy use polyester or a polyester blend, the Blvornl uses corduroy, and the QDJGSDDGM uses washable polyester. Cleaning is simple across the group: vacuum, broom or rag for daily dirt, with machine wash in cold water for the Starry Blue Lreedy and washing machine cleaning for the Light Blue Lreedy. Both Lreedy mats fold for storage when not in use, which suits a room where the mat only comes out for work hours.
Color and pattern
Blue is the shared color, but the shade and pattern differ enough to matter in a room. The Starry Blue Lreedy carries a printed pattern, the Light Blue Lreedy is a lighter plain print, the Riveroy is plain Blue, the Blvornl is Dark Blue corduroy, and the QDJGSDDGM carries a Blue Lightning gaming print. A plain mat disappears under a desk, while a print makes the mat part of the room. For hard floor rooms, see the chair mat for hardwood floors lists, and browse the chair mats, casters and footrests category for related gear.
Thickness and weight
Thickness runs 0.2 inches on 4 mats and 0.19 inches on the Riveroy, a small spread that matters less than size and backing. Only the QDJGSDDGM states an item weight, at 1.9 pounds; the other listings state no item weight, so compare those mats by size, backing and material instead.
Setup Notes
- Measure the floor area against the mat size: 36 by 48 inches is the common size here, with the Blvornl at 35.4 by 47.3 inches and the Riveroy at 48 by 36 inches.
- Confirm the surface: hard floors suit all 5 mats, low pile carpet suits the Lreedy mats and the Blvornl, and plush carpet is not recommended for the Blvornl.
- Remove the backing film on the Riveroy before use, per its listing, so the resin backing grips the floor.
- Smooth out fold creases with an iron or by laying the mat flat, per the Riveroy and QDJGSDDGM listings, and fold for storage when not in use, per the Lreedy listings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size chair mat fits a desk area?
36 by 48 inches is the common size here, with the Blvornl at 35.4 by 47.3 inches and the Riveroy at 48 by 36 inches. Measure the floor area the chair rolls over before ordering.
Can these mats go on carpet?
The Lreedy mats and the Blvornl name low pile carpet alongside hard floors. The Riveroy states it is not applicable to carpets, and the Blvornl is not recommended for plush carpet.
How do you clean a fabric chair mat?
Vacuum, broom or rag for daily dirt. The Starry Blue Lreedy allows machine wash in cold water for deep cleaning, and the QDJGSDDGM is washable and reusable.
Why does a new mat have creases?
Mats ship folded for delivery, which can leave creases on first use. The Riveroy and QDJGSDDGM listings say an iron or laying the mat flat smooths them.
Is the gaming mat different from the office mats?
The QDJGSDDGM carries a Blue Lightning gaming print, but its 36 by 48 inch size and 0.2 inch thickness match the Lreedy mats. Pattern is the main difference, not size or backing.
Does thickness matter?
Thickness here runs 0.2 inches on 4 mats and 0.19 inches on the Riveroy, a small spread, so size and backing matter more than thickness when choosing.
