How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For a chair mat, safety means a stated safety feature or certification, and no listing here states one, so safety scores zero for every pick. The Koonmi glass mat states a warranty term, and the other picks state no warranty term. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Koonmi Glass Mat | 9.8 | 33 | 24 | 22 | n/a | 4 |
| BesWin PET Mat | 9.7 | 30 | 22 | 22 | n/a | 0 |
| SHAREWIN PVC Mat | 9.6 | 29 | 20 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| QUSSIN Vinyl Mat | 9.6 | 28 | 20 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| Tonaus PVC Mat | 9.5 | 28 | 19 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
How to choose the best chair mat that won’t crack
Start with floor type and material
Floor type decides which mat fits. The SHAREWIN, Tonaus and QUSSIN mats state carpet, the BesWin mat states hard floor, and the Koonmi glass mat states carpet and hard floor. Material decides how the mat resists cracking: the Koonmi mat states tempered glass, the BesWin mat states PET, the SHAREWIN and Tonaus mats state PVC, and the QUSSIN mat states vinyl. A chair mat for carpet use should be checked against a studded back, since carpet mats here state studded backs for grip.
Match size and lip
Size decides how much floor the mat covers. The SHAREWIN mat states 48 x 36 in, the Koonmi mat states 36 x 46 in, the BesWin mat states 48 x 32 in, and the Tonaus and QUSSIN mats state 36 x 48 in. A lip extends coverage under the desk: the QUSSIN mat states a lip, while the other picks state no lip in the title or bullets. A chair mat for hardwood use should be checked against size and material, since hard floor mats here state smooth undersides for grip.
| Chair Mat | Size | Material | Surface |
|---|---|---|---|
| Koonmi Glass Mat | 36 x 46 in | Tempered Glass | Carpet/Hard Floor |
| BesWin PET Mat | 48 x 32 in | PET | Hard Floor |
| SHAREWIN PVC Mat | 48 x 36 in | PVC | Carpet |
| QUSSIN Vinyl Mat | 36 x 48 in | Vinyl | Carpet |
| Tonaus PVC Mat | 36 x 48 in | PVC | Carpet |
Check thickness, rolling and cleaning
Thickness differs by material. The SHAREWIN and Tonaus mats state 2.2mm thick, the Koonmi mat states 0.16 in thick in the spec table, the BesWin mat states 0.08 in thick, and the QUSSIN mat states 0.2 in thick. Rolling differs too: the BesWin mat ships flat, not rolled, while the SHAREWIN, QUSSIN and Tonaus mats ship rolled and need time to flatten. Cleaning is stated the same way across the picks: wipe with a damp cloth. A chair mat with lip use should still be checked for thickness, since lip mats here state different thicknesses.
Read the warranty line, not the headline
Headlines name the material and size, while the warranty line states what term, if any, the listing gives. The Koonmi glass mat states a lifetime warranty, and the other picks state no warranty term. A buyer should not assume a warranty term from a brand name or from a long bullet list, since the listings here differ on that line even when they share a material.
Setup Notes
- Check size before ordering, since the picks state sizes of 48 x 36 in, 36 x 46 in, 48 x 32 in and 36 x 48 in.
- Check floor type, since carpet mats state studded backs and hard floor mats state smooth undersides.
- Plan for unrolling time, since rolled mats may take several hours to flatten, while the BesWin mat ships flat.
- Check thickness and material, since the picks state PVC, PET, vinyl and tempered glass.
- Keep a damp cloth for cleaning, since the picks state cleaning by wiping with a damp cloth.
