The morning call starts before the coffee does, the webcam looks dim no matter how bright the room is, and the laptop is doing everything through one hub. The best desk pad small can be the thing that makes that corner of the desk feel finished: one defined patch of surface where the keyboard and mouse live, and where coffee rings and paper scuffs stop reaching the wood. We compared five small desk pads by stated dimensions, materials, non-slip backing, surface finish and warranty term, using only what each listing publishes.

Safety and Warranty
What this listing states. This product does not plug in or run on a battery, so safety is not part of its score. Manufacturer warranty for 90 days. It does not say everything a buyer needs, such as who pays return shipping, so warranty scores 3 of 5. See How We Pick.
Fit the desk first. Check the stated size against your desk depth and keyboard tray, and charge or pair as the manual describes. No keyboard, mouse or wrist rest prevents or treats injury.

The listing says the smooth surface suits mouse movement, the pad folds for carrying, and it is described as a gift choice. The title, bullets and spec table agree on the size; the only soft spot is the warranty, which is named but not given a term.

Pros
- Faux suede non-slip backing is stated

- Waterproof surface is listed for a smooth writing surface
- Model number 64839 makes the exact pad easy to match
Cons
- No warranty term is stated
- No thickness is stated
- Only the small size fits this article; the medium and large do not

Detailed Review
Smead lists the 64839 as a 23.6 by 13.7 in desk pad in vegan leather with a non-slip faux suede backing, sold alongside 31.5 by 15.7 in and 36 by 17 in sizes. The listing claims a waterproof surface and a smooth writing experience, and gives a 7.04 oz item weight. One wrinkle: the title calls the color Dusty Rose while the spec table lists Pink, so we trust the title and bullets, as the rules require, but flag the mismatch.
Who it's for: someone who wants a vegan leather pad with a stated non-slip backing and a clear model number. Who should skip it: anyone who needs a written warranty or a stated thickness.
Its Office Score of 9.6/10 comes from performance 29/35, build 21/25, value 21/25, safety not scored (non-powered gear) and warranty 0/5: 71 of 90 points, placed on our 9.2 to 9.8 scale.

iCasso Desk Pad
A 23.6 by 13.7 in lycra pad with stitched edges and a rubber base, listed as washable and waterproof.
Pros
- Stitched edges are stated to resist deformation
- Rubber base is listed to keep the pad in place
- The pad rolls up for transport
- Washable and waterproof are listed as features
Cons
- The warranty is stated as 'NO', so no warranty term exists
- The spec table lists a 1.1 in thickness that reads high against the bullets' 'thick and soft' wording; we trust the title and bullets
- Only one size is stated, 23.6 by 13.7 in
- The only pattern shown is the black flower vintage design
Detailed Review
iCasso lists this as a 23.6 by 13.7 in desk pad with a lycra surface, stitched edges and a rubber base, aimed at mouse use with smooth gliding. The bullets say the pad rolls up for transport and list washable and waterproof features. Two flags: the warranty field reads 'NO', and the spec table's 1.1 in thickness sits oddly against the bullets' 'thick and feels soft in the hand', so the review follows the title and bullets per the rules.
Who it's for: someone who wants stitched edges, a rubber base and a fabric surface for the mouse. Who should skip it: anyone who wants any warranty term or a leather surface.

How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance (stated size, material and surface finish for mouse use), build (backing, thickness and stated materials), value for the stated specs, safety and warranty. For a desk pad, safety would mean a stated certification, and none of the five states one, so the weight falls on the other criteria. Only the HOMIEAZICOZI states a warranty term, 90 days; the Colorful Star mentions a “Warranty Guarantee” without a term, and the other three state no warranty. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HOMIEAZICOZI Desk Mat | 9.7 | 30 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 3 |
| Colorful Star Desk Mat | 9.6 | 30 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| Smead 64839 Desk Pad | 9.6 | 29 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| iCasso Desk Pad | 9.6 | 29 | 21 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
| Jotsome Desk Pad | 9.6 | 28 | 21 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
How to choose the best desk pad small
Measure the patch of desk you actually use
The five pads here run from 17 by 12 in (Jotsome) to 23.6 by 13.8 in (HOMIEAZICOZI and Colorful Star), with the Smead and iCasso at 23.6 by 13.7 in. A 23.6 in width fits a keyboard and a mouse side by side on most desks; the 17 by 12 in Jotsome suits a tight corner, a best lap desk setup, or a desk where the pad holds only part of the keyboard. Watch the variants: the HOMIEAZICOZI listing also sells larger sizes up to 47.2 by 17 in, and the Smead comes in 36 by 17 in and 31.5 by 15.7 in, so pick the size on the page before you order.
Pick the material for how you work
Four of the five use some form of leather: PU leather on the HOMIEAZICOZI, faux leather on the Colorful Star, vegan leather (PVC) on the Smead, and real leather on the Jotsome. The iCasso goes another way with a lycra surface the listing describes as made for mouse glide. Leather wipes down easily and looks neat under a keyboard; the lycra option is the one to shortlist if the mouse never leaves the pad. The best mouse pad for comfort roundup covers fabric options if you want to compare surfaces further.
Read the backing, edges and corners
The backing is what keeps the pad from wandering. The HOMIEAZICOZI uses a non-slip fabric back, the Smead uses faux suede, the iCasso sits on a rubber base, the Jotsome has a natural non-slip backing, and the Colorful Star relies on a dense PU that stays in place. For edges, the iCasso is the only one here with stitched edges, and the Jotsome is the only one with stated rounded corners. The Colorful Star folds for transport and the iCasso rolls up; the others state neither, so plan on the pad staying where you put it.
| Pad | Size | Backing | Thickness |
|---|---|---|---|
| HOMIEAZICOZI Desk Mat | 23.6 x 13.8 in | Non-slip fabric | 1.5 mm |
| Colorful Star Desk Mat | 23.6 x 13.8 in | Dense PU | Not stated |
| Smead 64839 Desk Pad | 23.6 x 13.7 in | Faux suede | Not stated |
| iCasso Desk Pad | 23.6 x 13.7 in | Rubber base | Not stated |
| Jotsome Desk Pad | 17 x 12 in | Non-slip | 0.12 in |
Figures as stated in each listing. Where a thickness is not stated, the listing gives no figure, so we write it that way rather than guessing.
Warranty and small-desk fit
Only the HOMIEAZICOZI states a warranty term: 90 days from the manufacturer. The Colorful Star mentions a “Warranty Guarantee” without giving a term, and the other three state no warranty at all. If a written term matters to you, that narrows the field fast. For fit, every pad here targets a small or compact desk, but the Jotsome’s 17 by 12 in is the only one sized for a truly tight surface; see the best desk pad with clear overlay guide if you want a pad with a writing surface built in.
Setup Notes
- Measure your usable desk width and depth first: the pads here run from 17 by 12 in to 23.6 by 13.8 in, and two listings also sell larger sizes.
- Thickness is stated on two pads only, 1.5 mm on the HOMIEAZICOZI and 0.12 in on the Jotsome; check keyboard clearance if a shelf or tray sits low over the desk.
- The pads are unpowered, so no outlet planning is needed for them; route hub and charger cables behind the pad instead of under it.
- Fold the Colorful Star or roll the iCasso for a move; the other three state no folding or rolling.
- Only one listing states a warranty term, so keep the order confirmation for the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size is a small desk pad?
The five here range from 17 by 12 in (Jotsome) to 23.6 by 13.8 in (HOMIEAZICOZI and Colorful Star), with the Smead and iCasso at 23.6 by 13.7 in. Measure your desk before ordering, since the HOMIEAZICOZI and Smead listings also sell larger sizes on other pages.
How do I clean a small desk pad?
The listings give simple answers: the Colorful Star says wipe with a wet cloth or tissue, the HOMIEAZICOZI describes a waterproof surface that wipes clean, and the iCasso is listed as washable and waterproof. Treat each as the maker’s claim, and check the listing for anything a soap or cleaner might damage.
Do these desk pads have a non-slip backing?
Four state one directly: the HOMIEAZICOZI lists a non-slip fabric back, the Smead lists a faux suede non-slip backing, the iCasso lists a rubber base, and the Jotsome lists a natural non-slip backing. The Colorful Star instead lists a dense PU material that stays in place on the desktop.
Which of these pads states a warranty?
Only the HOMIEAZICOZI, with a 90-day manufacturer warranty. The Colorful Star mentions a “Warranty Guarantee” without a term, and the Smead, iCasso and Jotsome listings state no warranty.
Can a desk pad protect a desk from spills?
That is the maker’s claim on several of these: the HOMIEAZICOZI, Colorful Star and Smead all list waterproof or water-resistant surfaces meant to guard against scratches, stains and spills. We report each as stated, not as something we checked ourselves.
Leather or lycra: which surface suits mouse use?
The iCasso is the only fabric option here, with a lycra surface the listing says lets the mouse glide, plus a rubber base to hold still. The four leather pads list a smooth surface for mouse work. If the mouse stays on the pad all day, shortlist the lycra; if the pad mostly holds the keyboard, leather wipes down faster.
