How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For a chair cover, safety means a stated water-resistant or waterproof fabric and a fit that stays in place, and none of the five state a warranty term. How we pick explains the weights.

How to choose the best office chair cover for cats
Measure the chair before ordering
Every listing here gives size ranges, and the cover that fits is the one whose ranges match the chair. The Turquoize cover fits back heights of 18 to 40 inches, the WOMACO fits tall gaming backs of 31.4 to 34.6 inches, and the SARAFLORA, Smiry and GOWT covers fit backs around 27.5 to 31.5 inches high. Measure back height, back width, seat length and seat width, then check the ranges in the listing. A cover that is too small will pull off, and a cover that is too large will bunch under the sitter.
Fabric: stretch, velvet or waterproof
Stretch fabrics dominate here: SARAFLORA at 90% polyester and 10% spandex, Smiry at 92% polyester and 8% spandex, WOMACO at 85% polyester and 15% spandex, and GOWT at 94% polyester and 6% spandex velvet. The Turquoize takes a different route with a 5-layer quilted waterproof microfiber and a TPU coating, which suits a chair that also faces spills. Velvet suits a reader who wants a soft touch, while a quilted waterproof cover suits a reader who wants spill protection first. See our best gaming chair cover for more gaming chair options.
| Cover | Material | Back height | Armrests | Care |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turquoize Waterproof Cover | 5-layer quilted waterproof microfiber | 18 to 40 in | Included | Machine wash |
| GOWT Velvet Plush Cover | 94% polyester, 6% spandex velvet | 27.5 to 31.5 in | Included | Machine wash cold |
| WOMACO Gaming Cover | 85% polyester, 15% spandex | 31.4 to 34.6 in | Not included | Machine wash |
| SARAFLORA Large Cover | 90% polyester, 10% spandex | 27.5 to 31.4 in | Not included | Machine wash cold |
| Smiry Printed Cover | 92% polyester, 8% spandex | 27.5 to 31.5 in | Not included | Machine wash cold |
Armrests and closures that hold
Only two covers here include armrest covers: Turquoize and GOWT, the latter with a pair of armrest covers and armrest zippers. The other three cover the back and seat only, so a chair with armrests will show bare armrests under them. Closures differ too: SARAFLORA and Smiry use zippers on both sides, Smiry adds ties under the bottom, GOWT adds side and armrest zippers, and Turquoize uses 4 quick-release buckle straps. A buckle strap suits a cover that gets pulled on often, while zippers suit a cover that comes off for washing. A chair mat under the chair protects the floor while the cover protects the chair.
Washing and cat hair
All five covers state machine wash care, which matters when fur builds up. SARAFLORA, Smiry and GOWT state cold water washing, and Turquoize states cold water washing with no long soak. The WOMACO listing states machine wash care without a water temperature. Wash the cover on its own in cold water, per the listings, and check the care line before the first wash, since one listing also states no bleach and low heat ironing.
