The best whiteboard for home is the one that fits the wall you actually have and survives daily erasing without ghosting. A board that is too small for the room gets ignored, and one that cannot hold a magnet limits how you use it. We compared five whiteboards by stated size, surface material, magnetic surface, mounting style and warranty term, using only what each listing publishes. The ranking below puts the strongest all-round listing first.

Detailed Review
VIZ-PRO lists a double-sided magnetic whiteboard at 48x36 in on a rolling alloy steel stand with 4 castors, 2 of them lockable, and a quick-release pivot handle. Two contradictions: the spec table lists the board as non-magnetic and 24x36 in, while the title, bullets and item dimensions say magnetic and 48x36 in. We trust the title and bullets. The listing states a melamine surface, an alloy steel frame and an included marker tray. No warranty term is stated.

How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance (stated size, surface material, magnetic surface and mounting), build (frame, materials and finish), value for the stated specs, safety and warranty. For a whiteboard, safety means stated stability or material features; the VIZ-PRO rolling board states 2 lockable castors and the Tankee states a tempered glass surface. One listing states a warranty term: the Tankee at 20 years. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tankee Glass 36×24 | 9.7 | 30 | 21 | 20 | 5 | 5 |
| VIZ-PRO Rolling 48×36 | 9.6 | 32 | 20 | 20 | 5 | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
How to choose the best whiteboard for home
Measure first, then pick the size
The VIZ-PRO boards state 48×36 in and the Tankee and Amazon Basics 36×24 state 36×24 in, while the Amazon Basics Large is listed as large with no dimensions stated. A 48×36 in board needs a clear wall or floor area about that wide, so measure before ordering. Wall space near a desk works for a 36×24 in board, while a 48×36 in board suits a dedicated study wall. Our desk organizers and whiteboards guides cover the category in more depth.
Glass or melamine, magnetic or not
The Tankee is tempered glass with a magnetic surface, and the VIZ-PRO rolling board is double-sided melamine listed as magnetic. The Tankee notes its glass is too thick for standard magnets and recommends strong magnets, with 4 included. The Tankee also states scratch and stain resistance with an easy-clean surface. Both VIZ-PRO boards and both Amazon Basics boards are listed as magnetic. For a kitchen board, see our best whiteboard for kitchen picks.
Wall mount or rolling stand
Only two picks state a mounting style. The Tankee mounts to a wall horizontally or vertically, and the VIZ-PRO rolling board stands on 4 castors with 2 lockable. The other three state no mounting type, so check the listing if you need a specific setup. A rolling stand suits a multipurpose room where the board moves between uses, while a wall mount keeps the floor clear in a small home office.
| Whiteboard | Size | Mounting | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tankee Glass 36×24 | 36×24 in | Wall | 20 years |
| VIZ-PRO Rolling 48×36 | 48×36 in | Rolling stand | Not stated |
| VIZ-PRO Magnetic 48×36 | 48×36 in | Not stated | Not stated |
| Amazon Basics 36×24 | 36×24 in | Not stated | Not stated |
| Amazon Basics Large Magnetic | Size not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
Read the warranty line
Only the Tankee states a warranty term, at 20 years. The other four state no warranty term, so their warranty score is zero. A long stated term matters on a glass board, which is harder to replace than a melamine one. When a listing states no term, the return window on the order is the only coverage.
Setup Notes
- Measure the wall or floor space against the stated size: 48×36 in for the VIZ-PRO boards, 36×24 in for the Tankee and Amazon Basics 36×24.
- Check the mounting: the Tankee mounts to a wall horizontally or vertically, while the VIZ-PRO rolling board stands on 4 castors.
- Plan markers and erasers: the Tankee includes a marker, duster and tray, and the VIZ-PRO rolling board includes a marker tray.
- The VIZ-PRO rolling board lists mounting hardware as included; confirm the assembly steps on the listing before it arrives.
- Check magnet strength: the Tankee recommends strong magnets for its glass surface and includes 4.
