A chair that sinks and drifts on a plush carpet makes every workday feel like pedaling through sand, so the best desk mat for thick carpet is the one that stays flat, grips the carpet and lets the casters roll. We compared five chair mats on stated thickness, size, grip design and listed safety claims, using only what each Amazon listing publishes. An honest note up front: four of the five state they suit low or no pile carpet, so the rigid tempered glass pick is the one we reach for on truly thick carpet.

How we scored them
The OfficeKit Score weighs fit for the use case, build, value, safety and warranty. For thick carpet, fit rewards stated thickness, size and a grip design that holds on carpet, and the rigid glass mat earns the highest fit because it cannot flex into a deep pile. The Sillamate listing states a no-questions-asked guarantee, but with no specific term stated it earns no warranty points; none of the five states a warranty term with a specific length, so none earns warranty points here. How we pick explains the weights.

How to choose the best desk mat for thick carpet
Rigid glass or flexible PVC
The Tcyzest mat is the only rigid pick: 100% tempered glass at 0.2 inches thick, stated to withstand up to 1000 pounds of pressure, in a 48 by 32 inch size. On thick carpet, rigidity is the advantage, since a flexible mat can bow into the pile under the chair. The other four are flexible: the BesWin at 2.2mm PVC, the Sillamate at 2.16mm with a gripper back, the Kuyal clear mat and the black AiBOB. Our best under desk mat for carpet guide compares more carpet options.
Thickness and size
Stated thicknesses here run from 0.2 inches on the glass mat down to 2.2mm and 2.16mm on the BesWin and Sillamate. Sizes run from the 46 by 72 inch BesWin, the largest here, to the 36 by 48 inch Sillamate and AiBOB, with the Kuyal at 51 by 63 inches in between. The Sillamate ships with a lip for under-desk coverage. Measure the chair’s roll area before ordering, since a mat that is too small puts the casters back on the carpet at the edges.
Grip and safety claims
Every flexible pick states a studded or cleated underside that grips the carpet: the BesWin and Kuyal state studded undersides, the Sillamate states a gripper back for low pile carpet up to 1/4 inch thick, and the AiBOB states a studded underside as well. The BesWin, Kuyal and Sillamate all state BPA and phthalate free materials, and the Sillamate adds a no-questions-asked guarantee. Our best office desk mat for carpet guide covers more office options.
Read the listing twice
Four of the five listings state they suit low or no pile carpet only: the BesWin, Kuyal, Sillamate (low pile up to 1/4 inch) and AiBOB (low-pile). If your carpet is genuinely thick and plush, the rigid glass mat is the listing that does not carry that limit. None of the five states a carpet depth figure beyond the Sillamate’s 1/4 inch, so treat the pile limit as a property of the mat’s design, not of your carpet.
Frequently Asked Questions
