How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For desk lamps, performance means color modes, dimming and heads as stated, build means material and mounting as stated, value means how much stated lighting detail supports the pick for its class, and safety means a stated safety certification. No listing here states a safety certification, so safety scores are zero across the group, and only the Voncerus listing states a warranty term, so warranty scores are zero for the other picks. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Voncerus Double Head Lamp | 9.6 | 32 | 21 | 21 | 0 | 3 |
| EJIAXIN Gooseneck Lamp | 9.5 | 29 | 20 | 21 | 0 | 0 |
| Larnix Flower Lamp | 9.4 | 28 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| WSYEAR Rainbow Lamp | 9.4 | 27 | 20 | 19 | 0 | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
How to choose the best desk lamp for teachers
Start with color modes and dimming
Color modes and dimming decide whether a lamp suits marking, reading and planning at different times. The Voncerus lamp states 5 color modes from 2700K to 6500K with stepless dimming from 10% to 100%, the Larnix lamp states 3 color temperature modes in warm, neutral and cool white with dimming stated, and the EJIAXIN lamp states stepless dimming from 0% to full brightness with a touch switch. The WSYEAR lamp states warm light adjustable via a cord button, with no color temperature figures stated, and the LAOPAO pick gives no figures at all. For more lamp options, see desk lamps and light bars.
Mounting, gooseneck and desk space
Mounting decides how much desk space a lamp takes. The Voncerus lamp uses a clamp that mounts to various surfaces, while the EJIAXIN, Larnix and WSYEAR lamps are tabletop lamps with no clamp stated. Goosenecks appear on the Voncerus, EJIAXIN and Larnix lamps, with the Larnix gooseneck stated as 360 degree flexible, while the WSYEAR lamp states no gooseneck. A computer desk with limited space suits a clamp lamp, while a wider desk suits a tabletop lamp with a weighted base, as stated for the Larnix lamp.
Power, warranty and the title-only pick
Power and warranty separate the picks that state full details from the pick that does not. The Voncerus lamp states USB power with an included adapter and a warranty description of 12 month manufacture, while the EJIAXIN and Larnix lamps state corded electric power with no warranty term stated. The LAOPAO pick states no power, size or warranty figures, since only its title is given, so it sits last in this group and its card stays short. Check power and warranty wording before choosing, and keep the listing wording for any later support question.
| Lamp | Color modes | Item weight | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voncerus Double Head Lamp | 5 modes | 1.4 pounds | 6 x 22.6 x 30 in |
| EJIAXIN Gooseneck Lamp | Not stated | 1.8 pounds | 5.2 x 5.2 x 16.54 in |
| Larnix Flower Lamp | 3 modes | Not stated | 6 x 19.6 x 6 in |
| WSYEAR Rainbow Lamp | Not stated | Not stated | 6.2 x 6.2 x 14.7 in |
| LAOPAO Desk Lamp | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
Figures as stated in each listing. Color modes are stated for the Voncerus and Larnix lamps only, and item weights are stated for the Voncerus and EJIAXIN lamps only.
Read the warranty line, not the headline
Only the Voncerus listing states a warranty term, at 12 month manufacture. The Larnix listing gives a warranty description of 2 with no unit stated, so no concrete term is counted there, and the other listings state no warranty term. A warranty term matters for a lamp that will be used daily for marking and planning, so check the exact wording in the listing before counting on support after purchase.
Setup Notes
- Measure desk depth and width, and compare each figure with the lamp size stated, from 5.2 x 5.2 x 16.54 in to 6 x 22.6 x 30 in across this group.
- Check mounting before choosing: clamp mounting is stated for the Voncerus lamp, while tabletop mounting is stated for the other full-data lamps.
- Plan cable and power around the desk itself, since the lamps here state USB power, corded electric power or no power figure at all.
- Check color modes and dimming on arrival, and keep the warranty wording for the Voncerus lamp, at 12 month manufacture.
