How we scored
The OKH Score weighs printer performance, build, value, safety features, and warranty. Performance covers print quality, connectivity, and paper options; build covers materials; value weighs the feature set and bundle against the price. No pick states a safety certification or warranty term, so those columns score zero across the board. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canon Selphy CP1500 White Bundle | 9.5 | 30 | 20 | 21 | 0 | 0 |
| Canon Selphy CP1500 Black | 9.4 | 29 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| Liene M100 Photo Printer Bundle | 9.4 | 28 | 19 | 21 | 0 | 0 |
| Liene Amber M110 Photo Printer | 9.4 | 27 | 19 | 20 | 0 | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
How to choose the best printer for pictures at home
Compare connectivity and printing
All four use dye-sublimation. The Canon Selphy CP1500 Black lists Wi-Fi and USB with a free app and an optional battery for portable printing. The Liene M100 lists Wi-Fi for phones and computers. The Liene Amber M110 lists Bluetooth. The Canon White bundle lists wireless dye-sub printing. The Selphy CP1500 Black lists instantly dry, marker-ready prints. Pick the connection your phone uses most, since all four print from smartphones.
Check paper sizes and bundles
Bundles differ. The Canon White bundle includes KP-108 paper with 108 sheets and three color ink cartridges plus a cleaning cloth. The Liene M100 bundle includes 180 sheets and 5 ink cartridges, the largest here. The Liene Amber M110 includes 80 sheets: 60 4×6 inch sheets and 20 3 inch square sticker sheets, plus 2 cartridges. The Liene Amber M110 also lists a dual tray for 4×6 and 3×3 inch paper. Bigger bundles suit frequent printers.
Weigh print protection
Dye-sublimation adds a protective layer. The Liene M100 lists a protective last layer against water, scratch, and fading. The Canon White bundle lists water-resistant, fingerprint-resistant, long-lasting 4×6 photos. If the prints will hang on a wall or sit in an album, the stated protection matters. The other two picks do not state print protection. For related gear, see home office printers.
Decide on portability
The Canon Selphy CP1500 Black lists a small footprint and an optional battery for printing anywhere. The Liene Amber M110 lists a compact phone printer design. The other two suit a fixed spot on the desk. If you print at events, the portable picks fit.
Match the paper to the printer
Dye-sub printers need matching paper and cartridges. The Canon White bundle pairs KP-108 paper with three cartridges, and the Liene M100 pairs 180 sheets with 5 cartridges. Do not mix paper brands across printers, since the cartridge and paper are sized to work together.
Setup notes
Install the free app for the Selphy CP1500 before the first print. Load the correct paper size for the Liene dual tray, and confirm the cartridge matches the paper count in the bundle. Keep spare paper and cartridges on hand, since dye-sub printing stops when either runs out. Store paper flat and dry so the prints come out clean.
