Scrubbing a timeline late at night with a mouse that keeps hitting the edge of a too-small pad is a special kind of friction, which is why the best mouse pad for editing starts with size and surface, not looks. We compared five mouse pads by stated size, surface, thickness, base material and warranty term, using only what each listing publishes.

Specifications are manufacturer rated as listed, collected 21 October 2026. Three of the five state a warranty term.
How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance (size, surface, thickness and base), build, value for the stated specs, safety and warranty. For a mouse pad, safety means a stated certification; none of the five states one. Three listings state a warranty term: Jovlio at 2 years, JOCYRN at 1 year and Keychron at 1 year. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jovlio 31.5in Desk Pad | 9.7 | 30 | 20 | 21 | n/a | 3 |
| Keychron 17.7in Pad | 9.7 | 30 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 3 |
| JOCYRN 31.5in Desk Mat | 9.6 | 29 | 20 | 21 | n/a | 3 |
| ITNRSIIET Wrist Rest Pad | 9.6 | 28 | 20 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
| HomeLuxe Excel Pad | 9.5 | 27 | 19 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
How to choose the best mouse pad for editing
Size: desk mat or dedicated pad
The two extended mats measure 31.5 by 15.7 in and hold a keyboard, mouse and then some. The Keychron is a dedicated 17.7 by 15.7 in pad, the ITNRSIIET wrist-rest pad is 9.9 by 9 in in its large size, and the HomeLuxe Excel pad is 11.8 by 9.8 in. Measure your desk depth first: a 15.7 in deep mat needs real desk space. For more mat options, see our best desk mat for productivity.
Surface and thickness
The Keychron and JOCYRN list micro-weave surfaces for controlled tracking, the Jovlio lists a smooth tracking surface and the ITNRSIIET lists a woven cloth the maker calls controlled rather than slick. Thickness runs 0.08 in on the Jovlio to 0.12 in on the Keychron and HomeLuxe pads; the other two state no thickness.
| Pad | Size | Thickness | Base |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jovlio 31.5in | 31.5 x 15.7 in | 0.08 in | Natural rubber |
| Keychron 17.7in | 17.7 x 15.7 in | 0.12 in | Natural rubber |
| ITNRSIIET wrist rest | 9.9 x 9 in | Not stated | PU non-slip |
Extras: wrist rest and cheat sheets
The ITNRSIIET adds a memory foam wrist cushion the listing says conforms to the wrist, plus 30+ gradient, checkerboard and solid designs. The HomeLuxe prints common Excel shortcuts and 10 desktop practice charts on the pad itself, which suits spreadsheet-heavy editing sessions. Compare best desk pad with wrist support and best mouse pad for tracking for adjacent picks.
Water resistance and cleaning
The Jovlio lists a waterproof surface and the JOCYRN a water resistant coating, both wipe-clean after spills. The Keychron says to wipe with a damp cloth or hand-wash with mild soap and air-dry flat, and not to machine wash or tumble dry. The HomeLuxe wipes clean with a wet cloth or a warm water and soap soak.
Setup Notes
- Check desk depth: the 31.5 by 15.7 in mats need a full-size desk, while the 9.9 by 9 in wrist pad fits a keyboard tray.
- All five list non-slip bases (rubber, neoprene or PU); the ITNRSIIET listing says its base grips even on glass desks.
- Plan cleaning: wipe with a damp cloth per the Keychron listing, and never machine wash or tumble dry it.
- Confirm the warranty term on the listing: Jovlio states 2 years, JOCYRN and Keychron state 1 year each.
