How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty, as How we pick explains the weights. For trackball use, performance weighs support and stability: the Kensington ErgoSoft tops the list with a 24-month warranty, while the Vaydeer scores lowest. The listings state no safety certifications, so safety is 0 across the board. Warranty terms run from none stated to lifetime.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kensington ErgoSoft | 9.7 | 30 | 20 | 20 | n/a | 4 |
| 1InTheOffice Beads Rest | 9.6 | 28 | 19 | 20 | n/a | 4 |
| Fellowes Photo Gel | 9.6 | 29 | 20 | 20 | n/a | 3 |
| MXCOIRTP Wrist Rest | 9.6 | 28 | 20 | 20 | n/a | 3 |
| Vaydeer Mouse Rest | 9.5 | 27 | 20 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
How to choose the best wrist rest for trackball mouse
Gel versus foam versus beads
The Kensington and Fellowes are gel, the MXCOIRTP and Vaydeer are memory foam, and the 1InTheOffice is filled with ergonomic beads. Gel conforms, foam bounces back, beads massage. Trackball users who plant their wrist all day often prefer gel or beads. Full-desk setups are covered in the ergonomic wrist rest for keyboard and mouse roundup.
Stability and hygiene
The Kensington and Fellowes have non-skid backings, and the Fellowes adds Microban antimicrobial protection with a stain-resistant surface. The 1InTheOffice has a non-skid natural base under cloth. A rest that slides defeats the purpose, so check the backing.
Warranty
The Kensington states 24 months, the Fellowes and MXCOIRTP state 1 year, and the 1InTheOffice is backed by a lifetime guarantee. The Vaydeer states no warranty term. Longer terms matter for daily-use accessories.
