How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For laptop desks, safety means stable surfaces and stated weight limits; the DUMOS rates 265 pounds and the BUYIFY is a sturdy wood table, while the lap desks state heat shields and anti-slip surfaces. Three listings state a warranty term: 12 months on the AboveTEK, 90 days on both LapGear desks and a Limited type with no term on the DUMOS. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AboveTEK LD-165G | 9.7 | 30 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 3 |
| LapGear Home Office Black | 9.7 | 29 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 2 |
| LapGear Home Office Pink | 9.7 | 29 | 21 | 21 | n/a | 2 |
| DUMOS 32-Inch Desk | 9.6 | 30 | 21 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
| BUYIFY Foldable Bed Table | 9.6 | 28 | 20 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
How to choose the best laptop desk for working from home
Lap desk or real desk
Four picks are lap and bed desks: the AboveTEK, both LapGears and the BUYIFY. The DUMOS is the only full-size desk, 31.5 by 19.69 by 29.69 in with a steel X-brace frame. If the work happens on the couch, a lap desk wins; if there is a corner to fill, the real desk wins.
Check the features
Features run from a retractable mouse pad on the AboveTEK to built-in mouse pads and phone slots on the LapGears to a cup holder and tablet slot on the BUYIFY. Match the features to the routine: video calls need the phone slot, mouse work needs the pad.
Compare the warranties
Warranties run from 12 months on the AboveTEK to 90 days on the LapGears to a Limited type with no term on the DUMOS, with the BUYIFY stating none. For a desk that moves rooms daily, the stated term matters. For more setup ideas see our computer desks guides.
Desk Notes
- Check the laptop fit: up to 15.6 in on the lap desks.
- Use the heat shield on the AboveTEK for long sessions.
- Measure the corner before buying: the DUMOS needs 31.5 by 19.69 in.
- Fold the BUYIFY flat for storage between uses.
