The 9 a.m. video call starts and the webcam shows a dim corner of the desk, so the overhead light gets switched on and washes out the screen. By evening the same corner is a cave again and the laptop glare is the only light on the keyboard. The best touch desk lamp fixes that corner without adding a switch hunt in the dark: tap the base for light, tap again for a different level. This guide compares 8 touch controlled desk lamps by control type, height, bulb, charging options and warranty, using only what each listing publishes.

How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance (control type, dimming range, color temperatures, stated brightness), build (shade and base materials, stated weight), value for the stated specs, safety and warranty. Safety here means a stated feature such as the Yogaret’s IP65 or stated flicker free light; the Syrinx and Yogaret state such a feature, the rest do not. The Syrinx and Fenmzee state a 2 year warranty term and the Yogaret states 2-year maintenance. How we pick explains the weights.

How to choose the best touch desk lamp
Touch lamps differ more than the tap-the-base trick suggests.
Touch, gesture or wired
The Fenmzee, Seaside Village, Kakanuo and Yogaret picks use touch control: tap the base to switch on or off and step through low, medium and high brightness. The Syrinx uses gesture and wired control instead: wave a hand to turn it on or off without touching the lamp. The Yogaret adds stepless dimming from 100 percent to 3 percent on touch and hold.
Height and footprint
Lamp height runs from 14 inch on the Fenmzee to 18.31 inch on the Seaside Village, with the Kakanuo at 16.3 inch and the Yogaret at 15 inch. Footprints are compact: 5.3 inch by 5.3 inch on the Fenmzee and 8.8 inch by 8.8 inch on the Kakanuo. The Syrinx is 43.3 inch tall with a 23.7 inch bar on a clamp, built for large desks and dual screens.
USB charging and cordless use
The Kakanuo has built-in USB A and USB C ports that charge up to 2 devices whether the light is on or off. The Yogaret runs cordless on a 6000 mAh battery for 12 to 42 hours, charged over USB C in 6 hours. The Fenmzee and Seaside Village are corded electric.
Color temperature and brightness
The Yogaret lists 2700 K, 4000 K and 6500 K. The Syrinx lists 5 color temperatures from 3000 K to 6000 K with 10 brightness levels and 2000 lumens. The Seaside Village includes an A19 3000 K bulb, the Kakanuo a 6 W warm white bulb and the Fenmzee a 6 W E26 LED bulb. Only the Syrinx states a color rendering value, at CRI 90+.

Setup Notes
- Measure the desk depth and any shelf above it before choosing: the Syrinx stands 43.3 inch tall and clamps to desktops up to 2.95 inch thick, while the tabletop lamps range from 14 inch to 18.31 inch.
- Count outlets before the lamp arrives: the corded picks need a plug each, the Kakanuo adds USB A and USB C charging for 2 devices, and the Yogaret runs on its 6000 mAh battery with a 6 hour USB C recharge.
- Check the bulb base if a spare bulb matters: the Fenmzee, Seaside Village and Kakanuo take E26 bulbs, the Yogaret lists E27, and the Syrinx lists 96 built-in LEDs instead of a replaceable bulb.
- The Kakanuo listing advises against installing another bulb in its dimming lamp, so plan around the included 6 W bulb.
