Specifications are manufacturer rated as listed, collected 17 October 2026. Three of the five state a warranty term.

How we scored them

The Office Score weighs performance (Apple connectivity, print type and speed), build (brand, size and stated materials), value for the stated specs, safety and warranty. Printers state no safety certification here, so the safety weight sits at zero across the five. Three state a warranty term: Canon, Rongta and Gloryang at one year. How we pick explains the weights.

Product Office Score Perf. /35 Build /25 Value /25 Safety /10 Warranty /5
Canon PIXMA TR7120 9.5 32 21 20 0 3
Rongta F11A 9.4 28 19 20 0 3
HP Smart Tank 5003 9.4 32 21 22 0 0
Gloryang PD-A4 9.4 27 18 20 0 3
NDYIN N80 9.3 27 18 19 0 0

Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.

How to choose the best printer for use with apple products

AirPrint or an app

Two of the five state Apple AirPrint: the Canon PIXMA TR7120 and the HP Smart Tank 5003, which print from an iPhone, iPad or Mac with no app in between. The three thermal printers each use their own app over Bluetooth: Jadens Printer for the Gloryang, Nada Print for the NDYIN and the RONGTA app for the Rongta. The NDYIN is the odd one out for laptops: its listing says laptops connect by USB-C only, with no Bluetooth for computers.

Thermal or ink

The three portables are thermal printers: monochrome, no ink or toner, but thermal paper only, and the Gloryang takes only its own brand of paper. The Canon and the HP are color ink printers that take plain paper, with the HP using refillable ink tanks and the Canon using cartridges. For the full category, see printers.

Speed and running cost

The HP includes up to 3 years of ink or 6,000 pages in the box, which is the clearest running-cost figure here. The Canon lists 14 ppm in black and 9 ppm in color, against 10 and 5 for the HP. The thermal printers list 35 ppm for the Gloryang, 3.23 ppm for the Rongta and 60 ppm black for the NDYIN. A printer that fits your Apple gear is one part of the desk; a monitor stand for Apple Studio Display is another.

Setup Notes

  • AirPrint needs the printer and the Apple device on the same network; the Canon states dual-band Wi-Fi at 2.4 and 5 GHz.
  • Install the matching app before you travel: Jadens Printer, Nada Print or the RONGTA app, depending on the printer.
  • Stock thermal paper in advance; the Gloryang takes only its own brand and the NDYIN ships one 7 m roll.
  • The HP uses manual duplex, so two-sided jobs need a flip; the Canon duplexes automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Canon PIXMA TR7120 and the HP Smart Tank 5003 both state Apple AirPrint. The three thermal printers connect through their own apps instead.
