The best desk lamp for seasonal affective disorder is the one that puts a stated, adjustable light panel on a crowded desk and stays out of the way. On a gray morning, with a 9 a.m. call on a dim webcam and the laptop running everything off one hub, the lamp next to the monitor does double duty as task light. We compared five desk lamps built around stated 10,000 lux output, ranked them by stated specs, and noted five more options, using only what each listing publishes.

Specifications are manufacturer rated as listed, collected 19 October 2026. All five state 10,000 lux; two state a warranty term.
How we scored them
The Office Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For a desk lamp, safety means stated safety-relevant features: UV-free LEDs, flicker-free and glare-free design, or a stated certification; all five list at least one of these. Two of the five state a warranty term: Verilux at 3 years and SUXIO at 2 years. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Office Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Verilux HappyLight Lucent | 9.5 | 23 | 19 | 20 | 8 | 5 |
| SUXIO Light Therapy Lamp | 9.5 | 27 | 19 | 20 | 6 | 4 |
| Caromolly Remote Lamp | 9.5 | 30 | 21 | 21 | 7 | 0 |
| LASTAR Sun Lamp | 9.5 | 29 | 20 | 21 | 8 | 0 |
| Erligpowht Daylight Lamp | 9.5 | 27 | 20 | 20 | 7 | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
How to choose the best desk lamp for seasonal affective disorder
Start with the stated lux
Every one of the five lists 10,000 lux, and the SUXIO and Caromolly add lower modes (4,000 and 7,000 lux on the SUXIO; 25 percent steps on the Caromolly). All five also state UV-free output. If you want the brightest setting all the time, the Verilux keeps it simple with one touch and no stated dimming; if you want steps, the LASTAR offers five brightness levels and the Caromolly four.
Pick your adjustment style
Touch controls run the show here: the Erligpowht, LASTAR, SUXIO and Verilux all use touch or push-button controls, and the Caromolly adds a remote with a stated 15 m range and an included battery. Color temperature choices range from none stated on the Verilux and Erligpowht to four on the LASTAR (1600K, 3000K, 4500K and 6500K) and three on the Caromolly (2700K, 4000K and 6000K). For camera-facing light, see our best ring light with stand and best ring light for headshots guides.
| Lamp | Brightness levels | Color temperatures | Timer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verilux HappyLight Lucent | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
| SUXIO Light Therapy Lamp | 3 lux modes | Not stated | 30 / 60 / 90 min |
| Caromolly Remote Lamp | 4 (25 to 100%) | 2700K / 4000K / 6000K | 10 / 30 / 60 / 90 min |
| LASTAR Sun Lamp | 5 (5 to 100%) | 1600K / 3000K / 4500K / 6500K | 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 min |
| Erligpowht Daylight Lamp | 3 (30 to 100%) | Not stated | 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 min |
Adjustments as stated in each listing.
Check timers and memory
Four of the five state an auto-off timer: 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 minutes on the Erligpowht and LASTAR, 30/60/90 on the SUXIO, and 10/30/60/90 on the Caromolly. The LASTAR, SUXIO and Caromolly also state a memory function that restores the last setting. The Verilux states neither a timer nor memory, so it runs until you switch it off.
Measure the lamp against the desk
Footprints run from the Erligpowht at 0.59 in thin to the Caromolly at 5.1 x 5.1 x 11.8 in and 1.59 lb. The Verilux stand detaches for travel and flips between vertical and horizontal, the Erligpowht stand rotates 90 degrees, and the LASTAR measures 5.3 x 4.7 x 2.0 in for a small desk. Plan power too: the SUXIO runs on USB with a 49 in cable but no adapter included and a stated 5V-2A requirement, while the rest are corded electric. If the desk needs a cable plan, our best computer desk with cable management covers desks that hide the mess.
Five more options did not make the ranked five. The VUSIHOO lamp (4 x 4 x 16 in) states 10,000 lux, three color temperatures, 25 to 100 percent brightness, remote plus touch control and a 10 to 90 minute timer. The OYADISIIOP lamp states 10,000 lux in the title (the bullets say 11,000 lux), three color temperatures, five brightness levels, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, a stated UL safety certification and a 2-year warranty. The LanSuper is a floor lamp with a 360-degree gooseneck, six color temperatures, ten brightness levels and a 2-year manufacturer warranty. The Dicoool states 10,000 lux, a CRI of 96 plus, three color temperatures, stepless dimming, a 1-hour timer and USB charging ports with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. The Caromolly round linen lamp states 10,000 lux, three color temperatures, 10 to 100 percent touch dimming, 1,000 lumens max and a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
Setup Notes

- Plan power: the SUXIO needs a 5V-2A USB adapter that is not included; the other four are corded electric.
